Queensland and New South Wales has vast reserves of hydrocarbons, gas, coal, and oil. Over several thousands of years, deposits of sediments, organic material, vegetation and water were formed in the area. This resulted in the development of many natural resources, which is being explored by Metgasco.
Gas produced from coal is called ‘coal seam gas.’ Metgasco uses advanced drilling and production techniques to obtain this gas. This gas has various applications in households and commercial establishments. The unique quality of coal seam gas is that it contains a high percentage of methane.
More than 90% of the gas consists of methane, which is used for purposes of heating and cooking in households. It is considered to be a pure source of natural gas and is useful in power generation for low greenhouse gas emission and industrial energy applications. There is an increasing demand for energy resources like coal seam gas. This gas contributes to more than 60% of the total gas market in Queensland.
Other projects include the Lions Way pipeline and Richmond Valley Power Station. The pipeline will provide access to the gas field in Casino for the customers based in south east Queensland. The Power Station will produce 30 MW power for the town of Casino, generated from gas.
